Acknowledging Zumba Gold Instructors
December, 2010-
We need more Zumba Gold Instructors who choose to work with the geriatric population, those confined to wheelchairs or walkers, who live in Assisted Living or memory care facilities.
I was blessed to be involved with this population since moving to Virginia Beach, VA in 2010. I joined several Task Forces on Aging groups, comprised of individuals whose careers were dedicated to serving the senior population.
I met and continue to meet wonderful people from many different companies, decision makers at nursing homes, assisted living facilities and independent living homes: Activities directors, Marketing and Public Relations Managers/Directors, Senior Services and more. Since I am a Coach, Author and Speaker as well as a Licensed Zumba Fitness Instructor, I decided to promote my classes at these meetings.
I branded myself as a Zumba Gold Instructor. I wnted people to remember me for what I do rather merely my name. I came dressed in my beautiful Zumba Fitness nstructor clothes, hat, tank, pants, jacket and more. There was no way they couldn't remember me and what I do. This was the best decision I made to further my career with the Geriatric population.
When I learn about someone doing this, I want to take the time to acknowledge him/her, because this is not an easy population to work with. Many of the have multiple challenges, sometimes physical and often dementia and/or Alzheimer's. Nancy Rosen, from Bluffton, SC is one of those dedicated Zumba Gold Instructors. Click on her name and read the great article written about her in the local newspaper. (Proud to be your Zumba Gold Sister)

If you write the following and insert it into your google search engine, the most interesting information will be revealed to you: WHO IS ONE OF THE OLDEST ZUMBA GOLD INSTRUCTORS IN THE WORLD?
My name usually comes up first. Is this a compliment or what? I love it. I'm proud to be 73 and still teaching 6-7 classes per week, to seniors my age, younger and older than me.
The next person you'll meet is suanne ferguson, who teaches in Alabama. You go girl. ( Another amazing Z umba Gold Sister)
